IN THEATRES: March (2015)

This month’s “In Theatres” segment features two films that I’m very excited to finally be released this March. There are a few other films that are coming out that I would eventually like to see, but they haven’t intrigued me enough to feature. However,  I have included a list of these films at the end just in case you aren’t on my excitement level for the two featured films that I’ve chosen.

Cinderella – In Theatres Friday March 13th:

The little girl inside me is extremely excited about the live-action retelling of the classic story of Cinderella. Up-and-comer Lily James is to take on the lead role alongside Game of Thrones star Richard Madden who plays the handsome Prince Charming. The trailer shows an adorable chemistry between the two as well as some exquisite costume design. The film fanatic side of me can’t wait to see the supporting cast of Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother and Helena Bonham Carter  as the fairy godmother.

Bonus: As you may have noticed from my Best Dressed posts I am a tad bit obsessed with fashion. Therefore, I wanted to shine a minor spotlight on my all-time favourite fashion celebrity Lauren Conrad. She has recently created a Cinderella-inspired clothing line for Kohl’s that is full of adorable pieces that are 100% Pinterest-worthy. Check out the links below for a sneak peek of her favourite pieces as well as an online listing of all the items.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent – In Theatres Friday March 20th:

Insurgent is the second film of The Divergent Series based on Veronica Roth’s dystopian fiction novels. Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet are all back to reprise their roles as the fearless Tris, courageous Tobias, and devious Jeanine. However, I would also like to take a moment and point out my love for the casting director as the supporting cast of this series is brilliant. A few to keep an eye on include Miles Teller, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Octavia Spencer, and Naomi Watts.

I feel like stating that I can’t wait to see this film is a bit of an understatement. I personally enjoyed Divergent (the first film) as it was a fair representation of the novel with an exciting directorial perspective. I have watched the trailer at least a dozen times and also will be re-reading the book this month. I would highly recommend the novels if you enjoy dystopia-focused books such as The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, etc.

If Cinderella and Insurgent don’t match your film personality, check out the list below for a couple of films that I’m also interested in:

  • Run All Night (In Theatres Fri Mar 13th) – is an action film centred upon aging hit man Liam Neeson as he takes on his former boss Ed Harris after killing his son in order to protect his estranged family.
  • The Gunman (In Theatres Fri Mar 20th) – is an action thriller film about Special Forces soldier/military contractor Sean Penn and how he is forced to go on the run across Europe as he tries to give up the game for good.
  • Serena (In Theatres Fri Mar 27th) – is a dramatic film that once again pairs up Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as newlyweds that attempt to run a timber business in North Carolina during the depression-era.
