I have always loved both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards as they highlight the year’s amazing performances by Hollywood’s best. This Sunday’s 74th Golden Globes was no different as it was full of stars in exquisite dresses, heartfelt speeches, and the honouring of Meryl Streep a.k.a. the Queen of Hollywood. I have highlighted below my favourite winners, a couple honourable mentions, my Top 5 Best Dressed stars, and a few bonus features.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch the show on Sunday, check out the four video links below for a few golden highlights. The first video features Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell as they hilariously introduce the nominations for Best Motion Picture (Animated). The next two videos include touching acceptance speeches from Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone for their respective categories. Lastly, the fourth video covers the exciting musical parody cold open by Jimmy Fallon to start the show!
I love awards season too (I would include the BAFTAs too as I’m British). I am planning on going to see La La Land, Arrival and Lion soon, or when they come online. One thing I would have changed about the Globes would be to have Ricky Gervais as host so I could go on YouTube afterwards and see who he has torn down. Having said that, having Gervais there tearing people down while half a dozen or so people giving political speeches could be a PR disaster for the Hollywood Foreign Press haha.

Jimmy Fallon’s cold open was fun but I absolutely adored the Tina Fey & Amy Poehler combo from previous years. I also agree that Ricky Gervais was hilarious as a host but sometimes he takes it a tad too far so I like that they’ve been switching it up the past few years.
