IN THEATRES: January (2015)

Each month I will be highlighting a few films that I am excited about seeing in the coming month. However, as I just recently started my blog I have only included the two films I haven’t had the chance to see yet.

Therefore, I would like to take a moment to recommend Taken 3 and The Imitation Game as I enjoyed them both and they are still in theatres. All upcoming films as well as my favourite weekly television shows are featured on the “What’s New?” page at the top of the blog.

Selma – In Theatres Friday January 9th:

I have been looking forward to seeing Selma from the second I saw the trailer. It is about Martin Luther King Jr’s campaign to secure equal rights with a large focus on the 1965 courageous march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Not only does Selma convey a powerful story, but it has a star studded cast including David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Tom Wilkinson.

Also, Selma earned four Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, and won Best Original Song for “Glory” by John Legend and Common.

American Sniper – In Theatres Friday January 16th

American Sniper is another film I have been waiting what feels like ages to go and see. It is based on a true story as it focuses on the life of legendary Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle.

American Sniper takes an in-depth look into how Chris fights his way through four tours of duty both on the battlefield and back at home. I love Clint Eastwood directed films and I’m interested to see how Bradley Cooper performs in a more serious role.
