GOLDEN GLOBES: Highlights (2015)

I have already posted about my favourite fashion moments from Sunday’s 2015 Golden Globes, however I wanted to highlight a few of my favourite moments from throughout the evening.

Favourite Golden Globe Winner

Amy Adams – Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Big Eyes)

Amy Adams has been one of my favourite actresses for a long time now, as she is a true chameleon that always crushes any role she is given. This is Amy’s second Golden Globe, earned for her work in Big Eyes, as she received her first Golden Globe last year for her stunning performance in American Hustle.

A few of my other favourite Amy roles include her portrayal of:

Favourite Moments

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler – Hosts of the 70th, 71st, & 72nd Golden Globes

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have delivered some amazing lines throughout their past three years of hosting duties for the Golden Globes. My favourite line from this year goes to Tina Fey for her delivery of the following:

Amal Clooney is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, an adviser to Kofi Annan on Syria, and was appointed to a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.

Joanne Froggatt – Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or TV Movie (Downton Abbey)

Joanne Froggatt won her first Golden Globe for her portrayal of Anna Bates on Downton Abbey. She gave a beautiful acceptance speech where she took a moment to raise awareness for sexual assault victims. *SPOILER ALERT* Her character was raped on the show and she chose to pay tribute to rape survivors who had written her letters after the episode aired.

I received a small number of letters from survivors of rape. One woman summed up the thoughts of many by saying she wasn’t sure why she’d written but she just felt in some way she wanted to be heard. I’d like to say, I heard you and I hope saying this so publicly in some way means you feel the world hears you.

Honourable Mentions

Even though several of my favourite actors and actresses did not win on Sunday, I wanted to acknowledge their work from this past year.
