I don’t know about all of you, but I can’t wait for this summer to begin! Not only does summer mean warm weather, beach weekends, and drinks on a patio … but it also means TV PREMIERES!! Due to my clear obsession with television, I’m pretty excited to have a few of my favourite characters and plot lines back in my life on a weekly basis!
As some of you may have already noticed, a few of our favourite winter shows took a break at the end of March/beginning of April. However, they are all now officially back from their mini hiatuses in order to air the last few episodes of their seasons. Now before I give the premiere information for a few of my favourite summer shows; I wanted to list the ending dates of the shows I’ve been following this winter, as an officially goodbye until they return again in the fall.
- Gotham (Season 1): Monday May 4th
- New Girl (Season 4): Tuesday May 5th
- Criminal Minds (Season 10): Wednesday May 6th
- The Originals (Season 2): Monday May 11th
- Reign (Season 2): Wednesday May 13th
- Grey’s Anatomy (Season 11): Thursday May 14th
- The Vampire Diaries (Season 5): Thursday May 14th
This month I featured two Series Spotlights of TV shows that have recently premiered, and are currently my favourite things about Sunday night. Check out the information below in order to figure out how many episodes you are behind, so that you can catch up on these exceptional shows.
Just for fun, I wanted to feature a mini Top 3 of the TV premieres I am most excited about this summer. Let me know what you think of my Top 3, as well as share the premieres you are anxiously awaiting in the comments at the bottom of this post!
1) Orange is the New Black (S3) – Premieres Friday June 12th
I am eagerly counting down the days until all 14 episodes of OITNB‘s third season will be released by Netflix on Friday June 12th at 12:01 a.m. In preparation for the upcoming season, I purchased Piper Kerman’s book of memoirs to get an inside look of what it’s truly like to live in a women’s prison. OITNB is an excellent show and I can’t wait to see where they pick up each storyline after the dramatic ending of the second season!
2) True Detective (S2) – Premieres Sunday June 21st
The combination of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey was amazing and the main reason why I loved the first season of True Detective. However, the second season has a brand new set of characters, an entire new plot line, and will be airing on HBO at 9:00 p.m. on Sundays starting June 21st. I can’t wait to see how Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn, and Colin Farrell perform in roles with such serious undertones.
3) Ballers (S1) – Premieres Sunday June 21st
Ballers is a brand new show starring one of my favourite actors, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and will be airing on HBO at 10:00 p.m. on Sundays starting June 21st. The series will be focused on a group of professional football players, and how they handle life off the field with their friends and families. Dwayne has been posting a ton of photos and videos about the show on his social media accounts, so I’m very interested to see how everything unravels on screen.
Extra 2015 Summer TV Premieres:
I am very interested in the three premiere dates listed above, however I wanted to also include a few others that will be rounding out my summer weekly TV shows list. These three shows are on my list each summer because: I am thoroughly impressed by the art of dance, I love to mix in a ridiculously dramatic show, and I am obsessed with the Mike and Harvey bromance of Suits!
Bonus: in case I missed any of your favourite shows, check out the two links below for a full list of all of this summer’s TV premieres!
